Brick bat (banana pancake)

If I understand you correctly, you are saying that religion was created by those that didn't understand the world around them. If that is the case, why has it become so radical? Is it due to the fear what we have concerning our own mortality or is it because we use it as a mask to hide behind so that we can do what we want and then look for absolution from our actions? I also ask, do we need something to believe in or should we try to stay in the here and now as those that believe in Zen would tell us and not worry about beliefs? I don't know if there are any answers, but I do know there are many questions.
