Dave (unemployment)

My dad was recently laid off from Union Paciffic, he still gets unemployment for a couple of months but he said itll be tough couple of months. Around the same time last year my father got laid off from the same company and i am wondering why. Why do other people get to keep there jobs at the company and others get laid off???

    Sorry to hear that, Dave. You ask a good question too. I would say companies often look at what will save the most money. Sometimes people with seniority make it through layoffs, but also they will sometimes get cut because they get more benefits. I wish I knew the answer. -QE

    This sounds kind of similar to what has been happening in the oil fields. People in the upper positions (Pusher, Driller, etc.) are getting bumped down and the people in the lowest positions have nowhere to go so they are the ones that get laid off every time. -HQ
