Washinton was unpopular during his ssecond term for several reasons. During his second term, France and Britian got into a war between them. France, having a treaty from Americas Revolutionary War demanded that America help fight the British. Washington decided that he was going to make a Nuetral Bill in which the United States did not take sides. Anyways America was split between French sympathisers and British Sympathisers. this made most Americans angry at the president. Also, later into his term Washington but a tax on whiskey. It almost turned into a second revolution. Thankfully, Washington took 12,000 troops and swiftly crushed the uprising. Therefore Washington was not very popular so he wrote a farewell speech, posted it in a local newspaper and stepped down from office.
You got it. I really Wahington, but several people don't realize that he had some unpopular moments. I think the Jay Treaty was a good move, overall, but it wasn't very popular. Perhaps, good leaders don't need to worry about being popular. Also, he listened to A. Hamilton more than any other cabinent member, and this caused problems, like the Whiskey Rebellion. Hamilton was a hard core Federalist, and people like T. Jefferson had major problems with Washington being influenced so much by one person, especially when that person was basically the head of a party.
