Selling Radio(summary for Mr. Conn from paige[amber]))

The first radio station began in 1920 and advertising started in 1934, and so far in my book I have basically learned a lot about the commercialization of radios and about the radio channels. After the development of the radio, manufacturers didn’t really have a way to put them together and sell them so they just sold the parts and people at home had to assemble them themselves. The radio signals didn’t go very far and a lot of the times people could only catch parts of what they were saying because signals weren’t strong. A contest called “How Far Have You Heard?” started. The Radio Broadcast magazine told people to send them a letter and they had to tell them how far they got their radio to reach. This could determine who had that best radio. There were many protests over the radio when it first came out so that really determined what was heard over the radio.

Email i sent to CU Profesor

Stephen,
My name is Joe Tanner. I am an instructor in the Aerospace Engineering Department her at CU. I may be able to help you in your research. Are you interested in aviation in general or a specific segment of aviation? For instance, are you interested in general aviation (little airplanes), commercial aviation (big airplanes) or military aviation? I have some experience in all three. Whichever you want, you can find a ton of information on the internet by using Google. Just type in the airplane you want to learn more about. I am more than happy to help in any way I can. Hi I'm an 8th grade student doing a project on aviation for the National History Day competition, and I thought aviation was a good choice. I was wondering if I could ask a few questions about general aviation. My main question would be if you know of any great primary resources. If you could respond I'd appreciate it. Video on Amelia Earhart

I just watched a video on Amelia Earhart for History Day and these are the facts I found. Amelia was born on July 24 1897 and her father was an alcholic. When she flew it was for fun and not for publicity. Gorge Palmer planned all her flights. When she flew across the alantic it took her 19 hours to finish the trip. She was the first women to cross the Alantic but Charles Lindberg was the first man to cross the alantic one year before Amelia. When she went to fly across the world they ran out of gas over Howland Island in the pacific and they were never heard from again.-RRNRD

Notes on Amelia

  • born on July 24, 1897 in Kansas, Patcherson

koolkat (weird)

There is a 12 year old girl that can't stop sneezing(besides when she sleeps). On the news this morning, she was carrying on a conversation like normal with a sneeze in between. It's like she has done it her whole life. It doesn't seem to hurt, but its just weird. She was saying a few words, a sneeze, another few words, a sneeze... It does sound like phony sneezes, but they are consistant. It started after she got back from a sleepover. Its just weird! Oh, and there is a kid who, when he was 12, got a 9020 score on his SAT's. That is what I call a genius.

Health Care. Health Care. Health Care. I think that quite possibly there are a zillion different topics connecting Health Care to things that might not quite be entirely correct. I don't believe that by the sweat of my labor that I should have to pay taxes to support somebody else. I feel that my duty is to support those in my charge (I.E. my parents, my siblings, my family, and my husband). NOT THE MAN NEXT DOOR! (I.E. I don't believe in the public option on health care because I'm a capitalist and don't believe that the man who works his whole life for his success and his money should pay for somebody else!)

Ally

ok so friday i went to world fair and walked around listening to most of the fifth graders talk about each country they chose. The fifth graders put a lot of work and memorization into informing people about that country. Most of them talked bout what the currency, culture, religion, and language. They aslo talked bout population, imports, exports, and some of the major buildings. After they were done we had a sample of what some of the foods were like in that country. It was mainly food but there was some drinks at other countries. I would like to thank all the fifth graders for doing the world fair. They did a great job at teaching us about their countries.

John Jacob Jingle Hiemer Schmidt on Why I said No

The reason I said no on the most recent poll was because in the end it will actually hurt the poor more. Buy taxing buisness owners more to pay for your guy's insurance it will hurt our companies and then we wont be able to afford the "good" health care you got from working for that buisness. You might even lose your job because it will cost too much to operate. Instead you get the goverment healthcare which doesnt cover as much.

John Jacob Jingle Hiemer Schmidt on Health Care Bill

Wont the health care bill actually hurt the country. With the private option pretty much outta luck won't that lose more jobs and go against the President's agenda of creating more jobs? Also won't the cost of it add even more debt to the countries already growing debt.

John Jacob Jingle Hiemer Schmidt to Kool Kat

What does being poor or rich have to do with having an opinion?

health care

Just a question, whoever voted NO on the health care pole, why shouldn't we? We, normal people, be able to have an opinion on something that efects us? The people who do have an opinion are rich so they don't know what it is like for us, but we do, so we should have an opinion.KK

I think an interesting comparison would be to compare the impact of prohibition in the 30s to the impact of the current drug war on organized crime. A large number of people in prison today are in for non violent drug use. In the 30s they were in for use of alcohol. I think the comparison is very interesting and would be informative.

ok this is my thesis for faith... Humanity’s ability to believe in a higher power separates us from other orders. Faith is the belief or trust in a person, idea, or thing. Faith is, in general, the persuasion of the mind that a certain statement is true. Faith is the belief and the assent of the mind to the truth of what is declared by another, based on his or her authority and truthfulness.

Harley

Ignore the hit counter it's currently incorrect. Senator is going to take a look and see if he can fix or reset it. Thanks :)

Harley (Hit Counter)

With the message that Admin sent us I got to thinking about how many hits our blog is getting a day and thought it might be interesting to add a hit counter to the blog.

Harley (to Ally, Anne, Paige, JJJHS, Haney, and Senator)

Quick but random question. I'm just wondering about the book you're reading for English and what's it about?

Harley (Thesis Rewrites)

So I'm still not sure where to go with this project. As many of your probably know I'm doing Organized Crime for my innovation for History Day. My original conclusion for a thesis was "The All-American outlaw was society's response to an unreasonable amendment set forth by the Prohibition Movement," but recently I've come into contact with a woman who works for the prison who is offering me police reports and statistics about current gang (a form of organized crime) activity. I'm not nearly as interested in criminal behavior currently than I am about criminal behavior back in the 1920's where it all kind of got it's roots. However, though I don't find that nearly as interesting I don't really want to lose all the opportunity she's giving me for primary resources and I also thinking bringing it to modern terms will make organized crime feel more important. I would like some feedback on this to see what you guys think. It seems like last year I just chose a topic that I liked and it didn't go over too well because there was really no lasting influence (nothing to tie my subject to current times) so maybe I should include some parts that I don't particularly care about/like and maybe my overall project will be better? I just don't know.

John Jacob Jingle Hiemer Schmidt on Mock Trial

Finally!! A murder case, and an interesting one too!! This case will be tough for lawers but a little bit easier for the witnesses. Either way it is a murder and it will be fun. Im not even sure if im doing mock trial this year but this case definitly increased the chances. I hope that with this case we can win this year and make up some crazy way to twist the case but make it believable, like last year when we made it sound like a conspiracy against the woman who called the cops to the crime scene. It will definitly be cool and i hope Mock Trial does good this year.
