New colonists wanted to break away from a most powerful nation in the world, because they didnt like the rules that were set for them. They also wanted to expand the new colonies borders from coast to coast.

  1. What do you mean? What rules didn't they like? If you wanted to expand the borders, which I'm not sure was there intent, why not include a country with far more resources to do so?

  2. They didnt want to pay so many taxes on things. For example alcohol was a common commodity for the colonist's and there were some taxes on it. Maybe they didnt want to expand the borders who knows but if they did they didnt want anyone but themselves to rule the land the bought.
